The WateReuse Association hosted it’s Annual Symposium September 11-14 in Tampa, FL and by all accounts, the event was a huge success that celebrated recent industry achievements and brought together the utilities, businesses, and researchers that are laying the foundation for future progress in water reuse.
WateReuse welcomed more than 530 water professionals from 32 states, the District of Columbia, and nine different countries to this extraordinary event. It was the third year in a row that the Symposium has grown in size and scope.
In partnership with Xylem, GE, and Tetra Tech, WateReuse challenged home brewers to make great beer using purified water.
Certified beer tasters judged more than 100 entries and selected the top 20 to be served at the Symposium Welcome Reception, along with varieties from a similar contest sponsored by Clean Water Services in Oregon. Symposium attendees voted for their top three favorites in the People’s Choice Awards.
The New Water Brew Contest was covered by newspapers and television.
The Annual WateReuse Awards Luncheon, which recognizes extraordinary leadership in water reuse, was a highlight of the Symposium. The program honors innovative projects that are leading by example, along with the customers, businesses, innovators, and people that are making a difference.
Hallway conversations, networking breaks in the exhibit hall, and events such as Hillsborough County DPR Pilot Tour or dinner at the Tampa Aquarium gave attendees opportunities to connect, discuss the topics of the day, and extend professional networks.
Planning is underway for the 32nd Annual WateReuse Symposium, September 10-13, 2017, in Phoenix, AZ.
