WateReuse Colorado Student Scholarships

2021 scholarship applications must be submitted by October 1, 2021 at midnight MT. 

WateReuse Colorado (WRCO) is pleased to offer three (3) scholarships to support students focusing on water reclamation, water reuse, and/or desalination. Each scholarship is valued at $1,500 and will be awarded in November 2021 to the highest-ranking applicants among undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited Colorado university or community college, as determined by the scholarship committee of WRCO.

Scholarship Qualifications

Martha Hahn Memorial Scholarship ($1,500)Undergraduate or graduate student (preference to graduate students)

Operator Scholarship ($1,500)Any student pursuing an associate’s degree or certification in Water Quality Management or other study in preparation for water or wastewater operator license

Full-time* students: Completed at least one (1) semester of coursework

Part-time* students: completed at least 50% of the coursework necessary for degree

General Qualifications for Scholarships

  • Undergraduate or graduate student
  • Full‐time enrollment* at a university or college for Fall 2021
  • Sincere interest in pursuing/currently employed in a professional career related to water reclamation, water reuse, and/or desalination. Research involvement in these fields and/or professional experience welcomed
  • Not a previous WRCO scholarship recipient
  • Each applicant may only receive one (1) WRCO scholarship

* Full-time enrollment typically means enrollment in 12 or more credit hours. Part-time enrollment is acceptable for applicants who have completed (or are about to complete), at a minimum, 50% of the coursework necessary for degree completion.

Selection Criteria

  • At least one (1) letter of recommendation from a college professor, college advisor, or supervisor/manager
  • Personal statement (750-1000 words max) stating your background, interest and practical experience in the field of wastewater reclamation, water reuse, and/or desalination. Include a summary of extracurricular activities, professional involvement, and leadership roles related to your professional field, as applicable.
  • Grade point average (GPA) – submit all undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) college transcripts*

*Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
