Strategic Direction

WateReuse Texas (WRTX) developed our updated vision, mission, and 2023-2025 strategic plan based on the national WateReuse Association strategic plan, with adjustments in goals as needed to meet Texas’s unique water reuse needs.

Our Vision: Statewide support and implementation of water recycling as a key strategy to safeguard public health and achieve environmental, water supply, and economic resilience.

Our Mission: To empower Texas communities with resources to embrace water recycling as the cornerstone to safe, resilient, accessible, and sustainable water management.

If you have any input or thoughts on direction WateReuse Texas should take over the next 3-5 years or would like to participate in leadership or on any of our committees (Outreach, Membership, Policy, Research, or Events), please email Noelle George.

Outreach Committee

The outreach committee meets quarterly to advocate for water reuse across the state of Texas. We develop communication plans for the following month, brainstorm newsletter content, and discuss other outreach and communications initiatives that WRTX might want to pursue.

Membership Committee

The membership committee meets quarterly to develop and execute WRTX’s current membership engagement strategy and prospective member recruitment strategy. Additional responsibilities include keeping the WRTX value proposition current and collecting member feedback.

Policy Committee

The policy committee meets quarterly (and may meet more often prior to the Texas legislative session) to discuss the legislative and regulatory landscape for water reuse in Texas. Responsibilities and goals of committee participation include collecting member feedback regarding policy initiatives/priorities, developing strategies to advance reuse opportunities, tracking proposed legislation that may affect water reuse, advocating for funding and incentives related to reuse, and recommending advocacy priorities to the WRTX board.

Research Committee

The research committee meets quarterly to identify and evaluate research needs that will promote water reuse in Texas. We provide recommendations to the WRTX board on initiatives that can foster water reuse, including financial support and other resources. We play a key role in organizing the annual WRTX Conference by participating in the abstract review process and providing input on technical content and research-related items that can enrich the conference experience for attendees. We also identify opportunities to engage students and young professionals in water reuse research.

Events Committee

The events committee meets monthly to plan and brainstorm WRTX events including our conference, webcasts, and other networking opportunities throughout the year.
