Next-generation data centers, semiconductor manufacturing plants, and the water that fuels them are the backbone of the AI revolution. The global AI market is expected to increase from $189 billion in 2023 to $4.8 trillion by 2033—a 25-fold increase over a decade. Communities in the midwestern United States are increasingly and rapidly turning to water recycling to address a variety of water management challenges. These challenges range from aging infrastructure, groundwater depletion, and nutrient pollution to resiliency needs around industrial and agricultural water use, as well as intensified storm and flood events. Join us for an insightful discussion of how Midwest communities, many in water-abundant regions, are developing and implementing water reuse programs.
Closing Panel – The Price of Purification: Balancing Affordability, Resiliency, and Economic Benefits
Wednesday, March 11, 10:45am
Propelled by population growth, changing climates, and new regulations, an increasing number of utilities are taking a fresh look at advanced water purification to meet potable water needs. One of the biggest challenges, however, is figuring out how to finance this innovation. Utility leaders will discuss strategies for building support for big investments, approaches securing funding, the economic benefits of large infrastructure investments, and the innovative approaches needed to ensure a sustainable future for their communities.
