Potable reuse offers a drought-resistant resource for communities seeking to supplement drinking water supplies. Consequently, ambitious potable reuse programs are being developed across the United States and globally to expand water portfolios. Successful projects have demonstrated the efficacy of ozone/biological activated carbon (Ozone/BAC) or carbon-based treatment for inland areas and reverse osmosis (RO) based treatment for coastal regions. OneWater Nevada is leading the Advanced Purified Water Facility (APWF) at American Flat, Nevada’s first full-scale indirect potable reuse (IPR) project. Strategies for the reliable implementation of potable reuse will be presented.
