Thank You Pat Sinicropi, for Seven Years of WateReuse Association Leadership
Date: November 06, 2025
Patricia “Pat” Sinicropi served as Executive Director of the WateReuse Association from September 2017 to March 2025. For over seven years, Pat elevated WateReuse as a leading force for sustainable water management through water reuse, driving policy, education, and innovation. As she steps down, we reflect on the impact of her leadership.
During Pat’s tenure, she emerged as a tireless advocate for water policy in Washington, DC, leveraging her experience working for the Clinton Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Water Environment Federation, and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies. One of her greatest achievements was securing historic federal investments through the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which allocated $1 billion for water recycling in the Western U.S. and authorized $125 million for a nationwide grant program. She also championed the creation of a Federal Interagency Working Group on Water Recycling, uniting over a dozen agencies to advance water reuse. These milestones, driven by her strategic advocacy and bipartisan collaboration, have strengthened water resilience amid climate challenges – stabilizing rates and supporting economic and environmental goals.
Pat’s leadership also extended to education, community building, and organizational growth. Under her leadership, the annual WateReuse Symposium doubled in attendance from 500 to 1,000 participants. She helped guide WateReuse through the COVID-19 pandemic, pivoting quickly to serve the community through virtual platforms for the Annual WateReuse Symposium, encouraging the creation of our robust webcast program, and delivering value for members in a challenging fiscal environment. She broadened our geographic reach by engaging six new state sections and capitalized on the trend of industrial reuse to bring nine large industrial water users together as an emerging Coalition for Water Reuse.
Pat’s success in forging strategic partnerships has extended WateReuse Association’s reach as the preeminent voice on water reuse and recycling. Under Pat’s leadership, WateReuse forged strategic partnerships with the Water Research Foundation to ensure delivery of outstanding technical content at our Annual Symposium; collaborated with the International Desalination and Reuse Association to convene the Global Dialogue on Water Reuse; and established the Industrial Water Solutions conference together with the Water Environment Federation.
We look forward to Pat continuing to advance water policy to enhance the sector in meeting sustainability issues, with her blend of policy expertise and passion for water.
