On the first day of the Annual WateReuse California Conference, participants can register for one of two tours of local water reuse projects. Each tour’s capacity is limited to 50 registrants, and you can register while space remains as part of your conference registration.
Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System

The Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) is the world’s largest planned potable reuse project. After completion of its final expansion in 2023, GWRS can produce up to 130 million gallons of water per day. The purified water is introduced back into the local groundwater basin to support the needs of 850,000 local residents. Tour guests will be able to observe all major unit processes in operation during the tour, including micro- and ultrafiltration (MF/UF), reverse osmosis (RO), and the ultraviolet advanced oxidation process (UV-AOP).

Join us to delve into the educational journey of Irvine Ranch Water District’s innovation in water reuse, a contributor to the water resilience of local and regional communities. The tour of the Michelson Water Recycling Plant, where it all began, is a vital part of this enlightening experience.
Because this is a walking tour, and some involve grating and uneven ground, please wear comfortable, low-heeled, and closed-toe walking shoes. No sandals or flip-flops are allowed. Depending on weather conditions, sunglasses, sunblock, a jacket, or a hat may also be appropriate.
