A paradigm shift to expand potable water reuse is occurring. Variable influent water quality and extent of source control strategy implemented have a direct impact on the performance of a potable reuse treatment process train. This webcast will present highlights from a Water Environment & Reuse Foundation project (13-12) that set out to:

  • Evaluate upstream wastewater treatment impacts on direct potable reuse (DPR) source water and downstream advanced treatment processes.
  • Assess the impact of hydraulic control mechanisms on influent water quality and flow variations that may stress advanced treatment process for DPR applications.

The webcast will provide wastewater treatment plant and advanced water purification facility operators and consultants important information on how to implement selected strategies to assure the quality of product water to advanced water treatment purification facilities. The focus will be on source control in the collection system and management of the advanced wastewater treatment facilities.

Links to an extensive survey of information relevant to the study as well as the case studies from the participating utilities will also be made available. Participating utilities included LASAN, West Basin, OCSD, OCWD, San Diego and Singapore PUB.
