California Congressman Leads Effort to Increase Spending for Water Recycling Program in FY21 Spending Bill

Date: July 20, 2020

On Monday, July 13, the House Appropriations Committee debated and passed the Energy and Water Appropriations bill, and in doing so, adopted an amendment championed by Congressman Ken Calvert (R-CA) to increase money for Title XVI-WIIN Water Reclamation and Reuse Program. As a result, the bill now provides $11.8 million rather than $10 million for the program as originally proposed by the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee.

The House Appropriations Committee recently released both the Interior-Environment Appropriations bill and the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill for FY 2021, the latter of which included deep cuts to a number of important programs. WateReuse thanks Congressman Calvert for his leadership, and looks forward to working with both the House and Senate to increase rather than decrease funding for this critical program.
