Arizona Senator Selected to Chair Subcommittee on Water and Power

Senator Flake Visit 17U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) was selected to serve as Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water and Power.

Jurisdiction of the Subcommittee includes oversight and legislative responsibilities for irrigation, reclamation projects, power marketing administrations, energy development impacts on water resources, groundwater resources and management, hydroelectric power, low head hydro, and energy related aspects of deepwater ports.

Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate, Senator Flake served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001-2013 representing the East Valley. As a member of the U.S. Senate, Jeff sits on the Judiciary Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and Foreign Relations Committee where he also serves as chairman of Subcommittee on African Affairs.

The Senator toured Southern Arizona water infrastructure in 2016 as part of his outreach on water issues. This included interaction with local water managers, including several WateReuse members.
