WateReuse Executive Director Wade Miller Announces Resignation

August 8, 2013

Alexandria, VA — G. Wade Miller, the Executive Director of the WateReuse Association and the WateReuse Research Foundation, announced his resignation from the two organizations effective March 31, 2014. The leadership of the Association and Foundation will begin a search for Miller’s successor immediately.

“Serving as Executive Director of these two fine organizations and watching them grow and expand in size and influence has been a tremendously rewarding experience for me,” Miller said. “I have had the opportunity to develop many meaningful and deep friendships with water professionals on virtually every continent and in every region of the world. These are experiences that I will remember and treasure as I move on to the next phase of my life.”

Miller was appointed as the first full-time executive director on August 1, 2000 and established an office in the Washington, DC area. The Association has grown to include seven state sections and an international division in Australia. The Research Foundation has leveraged nearly $50 million to conduct more than 160 research projects over the past 13 years, directly impacting water scarcity throughout the world with the knowledge it has produced.

“Wade’s leadership, insight, and perseverance have been invaluable in the Association’s ability to educate both professionals and the public on the latest in the practice and science of water reuse and desalination and to monitor and influence policy and regulation,” said Brian Good, President of the WateReuse Association and Deputy Manager of Organizational Improvement for Denver Water.

“During Wade’s tenure, the Foundation has become the respected voice for research on water reuse and desalination,” added Richard Nagel, Chairman of the WateReuse Research Foundation and General Manager of West Basin Municipal Water District. “Our Foundation has the world’s largest scientific portfolio of research studies and data on the use, acceptance, and practice of water recycling and desalination. Wade leaves a great legacy for us to build upon.”

During Miller’s tenure, the WateReuse Association has grown to nearly 400 organizational members, sponsored legislation in Washington, DC and in California, and has been successful in obtaining substantial federal funding for the WateReuse Research Foundation. The Foundation has built a network that includes some of the leading scientists and technical experts and has developed a definitive knowledge base that leads to the success of water recycling and desalination projects.
