At the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s October 5 Summit on Sustainability and Circular Economy, WateReuse Association and our partners announced two winners of the Global Industrial Water Reuse Champion Award. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, manufacturer of paper and personal hygiene products, has reduced company-wide water consumption by over 42% since 2015. The company has used onsite water recycling to reduce their reliance on freshwater supplies by more than 30,000 gallons per day at their diaper manufacturing facility in Paris, Texas. Carlsberg Group was recognized for using water recycling to reduce water consumption by 500,000 cubic meters per year and virtually eliminate wastewater in its brewing operations at its flagship brewery in Fredericia, Denmark. WateReuse Association Executive Director Patricia Sinicropi presented the awards at the U.S. Chamber event. The Global Industrial Water Reuse Champions Award program was developed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, WateReuse Association, Veolia, The Water Center at the University of Pennsylvania, and the International Desalination Association as part of the National Water Reuse Action Plan. |
