Executive Summary Florida WateReuse is excited to see the progress that was made in our state on the implementation of direct potable reuse and our role in that process as an organization in 2021. Although 2021 was a challenging year, together as professionals who are passionate about our water resources and effective and efficient use of recycled water, we have accomplished so much! We continued to be leaders in working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on the proposed rules, we were an active voice at all the major water and policy conferences this year, we actively engaged and supported the State’s One Water Florida education program, we grew our membership and strengthened our organization’s finances, we explored the latest technologies in our industry, engaged at a national level and most importantly we stayed connected through our strong communications. On behalf of the executive team, we are very proud of what we accomplished in 2021 and we are poised for great things in 2022. We are looking forward to seeing you all more this year and continuing the great work we started. Thank you all for your continued support as we adapt to our new world and meet the water supply challenges of the future!
Sincerely, WateReuse Florida Executive Team
Legislative Committee To date, there have been 3,565 bills filed with no legislation that directly impacts reclaimed water. Most of the reuse bills are legislative appropriations for projects. The membership committee will use the appropriations list to see if those utilities would be interested in joining WateReuse. It may be noteworthy that there are 30 septic-to-sewer appropriations bills filed at this time for different utilities.
Regulations & Rules Committee The committee has recently discussed the proposed potable reuse regulations. Read more. Public Relations & Outreach Committee The committee has recently noted the importance of engaging students on the topic of water reuse.
