The 2025 WateReuse Arizona Symposium, held in collaboration with Arizona Water Association, convened last week in Flagstaff, Arizona, for three days of enriching technical content and a celebration of 20 years of WateReuse Arizona. The Symposium kicked off on Sunday, July 20 with mountain biking sponsored by Filanc and the ninth annual water balloon fight. During the Monday awards ceremony, WateReuse Board Treasurer and Director of Tucson Water John Kmiec was awarded the Person of the Year Award, which celebrates individuals who demonstrate leadership and inspire others to use water recycling to create resilient and safe water supplies. Arizona State University’s Flow Forward project, led by Dr. Claire Lauer – a public engagement tool which includes two virtual reality tours of Advanced Water Purification facilities – was awarded the Project of the Year Award. WateReuse’s incoming Executive Director Bruno Pigott attended the 20th Anniversary Dinner Gala on Monday evening along with Interim Executive Director Brian Biesemeyer and WateReuse President Bart Weiss. The conference featured impactful programming across technology, policy, operations, and communications, wrapping up with a “World Café” featuring perspectives from treatment plant operators focused on building and engaging the operator workforce. |
