The WateReuse Association and WateReuse California welcome Carmel Area Wastewater District. The Carmel Area Wastewater District was formed as the Carmel Sanitary District in 1908. At that time, the District provided septage facilities for the village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Over the years the District has grown to provide collection, treatment, and disposal of wastewater for 11,000 people and treatment and disposal for an additional 4,500 people in Del Monte Forest. The District’s primary function is the treatment of wastewater which includes household wastes, commercial and industrial waste stream flows, stormwater, and groundwater. The District is managed on-site by wastewater professionals who are certified by the State of California and are specialized in wastewater treatment, collection, source control, maintenance, or laboratory analysis. |
