Over the past several months, the New Technology and Innovation Committee (NTIC) has continued to explore and identify technologies and research within the realm of reuse that could offer value to the Florida membership. The committee meets monthly to host presentations by both members and invited guests. While committee co-chair Pranjali Kumar, P.E. is temporarily out enjoying maternity leave (congrats Pranjali!), the NTIC is currently being chaired by Kerry Kates, P.E. with the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, with incoming WateReuse Florida president Mike Sweeney, Ph.D. with Toho Water Authority, serving as vice chair. Recent committee presentations include “Leak Detection” by Jason Mickel, Director of Utilities with Pasco County, and Bruno Tume with Asterra, where the utilization of satellite-based synthetic aperture radar and its various applications was discussed, and “Virus Monitoring Using Field qPCR” by Anna Ness, P.E., Ali Zarei-Baygi, and David MacNevin with CDM Smith. Committee presentations are recorded and are available for viewing by WateReuse Florida members. If you would like to view any of our recent presentations, please contact Kerry Kates at Kerry.Kates@ffva.com. Lastly, the NTIC currently has an open position for any Board Trustee member that would like to join the committee. If interested, please reach out to either Kerry Kates or Mike Sweeney at Msweeney@tohowater.com; we would be happy to have you on board. |
