Modules:

Learn about salinity and related concepts

Learn about salt in the root zone

Summary

The accumulation of salt in the root zone is affected by many factors and conditions. Some of the more important ones are: the salinity of the irrigation water, the method by which water is applied to the landscape, the amount of water used and the Leaching Fraction (LF), the evaporative concentration of salt that occurs as plants absorb water through their roots, the subsurface conditions that affect the rate at which water drains from the soil, and climatic conditions.

If you have viewed all three of the "learning" modules — Learning About Salinity and Water Quality, Learning About Effects of Salt on Plants, and this one — then you have acquired a solid foundation for viewing and understanding certain other modules that help you with design issues and problem solving. Congratulations!
