Key to tolerance ratings:

Rating Definition
highly tolerant plant uninjured when irrigated with water containing 6 mg/L to 10 mg/L boron
tolerant leaves uninjured when plant irrigated with water containing 4 to 6 mg/L boron, but plant may be severely injured when irrigated with water containing 6 to 10 mg/L boron
moderately tolerant leaves uninjured when plant irrigated with water containing 2 mg/L boron, but plant may be severely injured when irrigated with water containing 4 to 6 mg/L boron
sensitive plant’s leaves severely burned, especially at the tips, when irrigated with water containing 1 mg/L to 2 mg/L boron
