Drawing conclusions

Once you've carefully reviewed what's been discovered in the field and in the laboratory about the salinity of your soil and water and any likely effects on your landscape's soil and plants, synthesize all of the findings to conclude whether salinity is a current or impending problem.

If necessary, take further steps, such as enlisting the help of horticultural specialists or consultants to conduct more precise and revealing field tests or to help you interpret laboratory and field data.

If you conclude that the answer to our overriding question — "Is salinity a problem?" — is yes, then make any needed changes, if possible, to the management of your irrigation system, soil, and plants.
