Dear : We finally have good news out of Washington, DC regarding federal investment in infrastructure generally, and water reuse specifically. With passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the WateReuse Association scored major victories on some of our key priorities: the legislation contains $1 billion for investment in western water recycling projects, a $125 million authorization for a nationwide water reuse grant program, and establishment of a federal interagency working group on water reuse to ensure program and policy coordination between federal agencies. This achievement would not have occurred without you! WateReuse members led our advocacy efforts throughout this process. Your consistent contact with your Congressional Delegations secured broad bipartisan support for each of these investments and policy initiatives. The fact that the programs included in the package are nationally significant, indicates that water recycling has moved beyond a regional issue to one that has significance for communities and businesses throughout the country – and this would not occur without your direct engagement! Your advocacy in support of national policies that facilitate investment in water recycling is making a difference in Washington, DC. While we have one more legislative package to get across the finish line, this passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a major win! WateReuse created a Water Recycling Practitioner's Guide to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to help our members navigate the programs included in the Act. In addition, the EPA Office of Water invites members to join Assistant Administrator Radhika Fox for a call on Wednesday, November 10 at 11 am EST to discuss the water provisions in the bipartisan infrastructure deal. Please use this link to access the call. We thank you for your membership in the WateReuse Association, and thank you for your efforts in helping us achieve our policy goals. Enjoy the day! Pat |
