Home\Florida Senate Bill 64 – Compliance Planning and Incorporating Non-Beneficial Discharges into your Water Supply Portfolio

Registration is closed for this event
In this webinar, we will hear from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on their analysis of SB 64 compliance plans submitted by utilities in the state, followed by the individual plans of three utilities in the North, Central, and South Regions and the impact of regional drivers on their respective plans.

20 years ago, Florida utilities were investigating methods to dispose of excess reclaimed water. Water supply planning has since then evolved to operate collaboratively across “silos” of water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and stormwater.

Fast forward to today, Senate Bill 64, signed into law in 2021, is propelling utilities to explore innovative and non-traditional projects to meet the requirement to eliminate non-beneficial surface water discharges. There is a paradigm shift in thinking about reclaimed water as a resource vital to meeting increasing water demands across the State.

In this webinar, we will hear from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on their analysis of SB 64 compliance plans submitted by utilities in the State, followed by individual plans of three (3) utilities in the North, Central, and South regions, and the impact of regional drivers on their respective plans. Attendees will learn about the following:

  • Alternative water supply projects, and
  • Regional challenges in fulfilling compliance plans.
